Revisiting Loaded Weapon 1 (1993): A Star-Studded Spoof That Nailed ’90s Action Comedy

Today I’m taking a look back at the 1993 spoof Loaded Weapon. Is it me or do we not see spoofs anymore? This was a great time with many spoofs like “Naked Gun”, “Hot Shots”, and “Scary Movie” hitting the big screen. I think it gave a lot of actors a chance to work on something fun and completely ridiculous picking out things that didn’t quite add up in some of the great action movies. I think it would be a great party to have a lot of these actors together in one room. Anyhoot “Loaded Weapon” pokes fun at Lethal Weapon, Basic Instinct, Commando, Die Hard, Dirty Harry, Rambo, The Silence of the Lambs, Wayne’s World, and 48 Hrs.

This is such a fun movie and boasts quite a main cast including Emilio Estevez, Samuel L Jackson, Kathy Ireland, Tim Curry, John Lovitz, Frank McRae, Whoopi Goldberg , and William Shatner. The star studded parody didn’t stop there though. There were many great actors who popped up in various scenes including, James Doohan as Scotty, Dr Joyce Brothers, Bruce Willis, and Erik Estrada and Terry Wilcox as Ponch and John from Chips. The fun didn’t stop there, also popping up Charlie Sheen, Corey Feldman, Richard Moll, Denis Leary, Murray Abraham, Phil Hartmann, Paul Gleason, Denise Richardson, and many many more. This is a hilarious police comedy and really captured the humor in many action films of the late eighties and early nineties.
