REVISITING THE 1980’S G.I. Joe Tactical Battle Platform!

Story By Mitchell Smith
Welcome to the Outpost. Today I’m taking a look at the 1985 G.I. Joe Transportable Tactical Battle Platform. I did not have this as a kid and this was probably a bit overlooked because of another large vehicle that year the Flagg. However this is a really cool play set and there are a ton of features and play value along with a nice display value for those who may want to display a wide range of figures and vehicles.
I have a few decks now and one nearly complete with no broken parts and minor discoloration, but I feel this in real life would be a bit dirty so I think it works. Basically you have 6 stations on this platform. The helicopter landing pad which was designed to hold a Dragonfly, and the modern one does fit and there may be a couple others such as the Locust or a Shark you could land on there.
There are 2 defense stations one with a cannon and one with missiles. Both look pretty cool and are pretty straight forward. The dock is pretty cool because you can have it in or out and line up some Devilfish or a 2005 Moray. There is a crane to lift and lower supplies and finally the control room. This is pretty cool and has lots of detail. This was used in the cartoon a bunch and normally was being attacked by Cobra. Over all this is a real nice set and it was a lot of fun setting up for some pics. Who loves this set? Who has one on display? Make sure to check back for our next discussion.
