At the beginning of the pilot episode of ‘Supergirl‘ we were introduced to Dean Cain’s character, ‘Jeremiah Danvers‘ who was the Earth adoptive father of ‘Kara‘ aka ‘Supergirl‘. As season 1 progressed we learned that Jeremiah had been a friend to Martian Manhunter and had saved his life and helped him gain his freedom while sacrificing his life. Later on towards the end of season 1 it was revealed that Jeremiah Danvers was still alive, but being held captive in Cadmus labs. Now we get to the juicy part, it seems that it is highly likely that the good folks at Cadmus did some experimentation on him and that when season 2 rolls around we will find out that Dean Cain’s character will become ‘Cyborg Superman‘. While nothing has been confirmed, the statement made by Supergirl EP Andrew Kreisberg in the most recent EW Spoiler Room seems to imply that fans hoping that Jeremiah Danvers could return as Cyborg Superman may get their wish.
Who’s the new villain on Supergirl in season 2? — Li
To start, it’s Project Cadmus, the mysterious organization that’s apparently been holding Jeremiah Danvers hostage — a second big bad will emerge later in the year. “[Project Cadmus is] dedicated to eradicating alien life on Earth,” EP Andrew Kreisberg says. “They’re fanatics. They’re true believers. It’s a collection of scientists, of very bright, patriotic people who truly believe what they’re saying. That makes them even more dangerous.”
For those unfamiliar with the aforementioned hope/theory, it is postulated that Supergirl will take a cue from the New 52 comics in which Supergirl’s Kryptonian father is Cyborg Superman, however, rather than having her Kryptonian father be the Cyborg Man of Steel, the theory posits that Cain’s Jeremiah Danvers – Kara’s adopted Earth father – will be the Metal-Man of Steel. The announcement made by Kriesberg above seems to back this theory because, according to Kreisberg, Cadmus is “dedicated to eradicating alien life on Earth” if this were the case it’s unlikely that they would equip an alien with cybernetic implants allowing it to stop other aliens…but what about a human? What if Cyborg Superman is Cadmus’ answer to stopping alien life on Earth?
