The Evolution of Star Wars Snowspeeders: A Collector’s Journey Through 1/18 Scale Models

Story By Mitchell Smith
Welcome to Hondo’s Hideout. Today I’m taking a look at three different Star Wars 1/18 scale Snowspeeders. It wasn’t far into The Empire Strikes Back that we got a glimpse at a Snowspeeder. The Snowspeeder was such a great vehicle in the movie and I’m sure was a top selection to be made into toy. As you can see I have an original but it may have been stepped on by an AT-AT.
I did not have many Star Wars vehicles as a kid and didn’t have that nostalgic connection, but more of a “That would have been cool to have growing up” connection. When I picked this up it was actually because I had an AT-AT and I wanted it for a damaged Speeder. As I got to looking it over I realized what a great design this was. In 2006 Hasbro put out a Rouge Two Snowspeeder that was really cool and came with a cool box with a cool background for some awesome pics. This was the original vehicle with a few tweaks and color changes.
This one also came with a figure, Zev Senesca. This is a great update and I really enjoyed it. Then Hasbro put out the 2010 version. This was slightly smaller than the original but had a lot more detail, especially in the cockpit. There are a ton of small detail to make this look realistic. The front guns can be switched out to projectile guns but I like the plain ones.
Over all these 3 ships are very cool and I’m happy to have them in my collection. Who has had any versions of the Snowspeeder? Who got an original, I’m curious how excited you were to get this as a kid? Make sure to check back in for more Star Wars stories and reviews.
