THE POP EXPOSE ‘Def Leppard’s Rick Allen’ By Mitchell Smith!

Rick Allen was born in November of 1963 in Derbyshire England. He started playing drums at the age of nine and in 1978 at 15 years old Allen replaced Def Leppard drummer Tony Kenning. In 1984 Allen was in a car accident and lost his left arm. This did not stop Allen though, he didn’t put down the drum sticks and went on with the band as Def Leppard tore into the mainstream with hits like, Love Bites, Pour Some Sugar on Me, and Photograph. Def Leppard is one of my all time favorite bands.

Growing up there music was huge in my teen days and really influential. They have so many songs that transports me back to the simpler times. In the Def Leppard heydays Rick Allen was very much talked about and his one arm drumming ability. He was a idolized by so many for overcoming a tragedy and persevering, and being the one arm drummer. Along with his wife Lauren Monroe, Allen started the Raven Drum Foundation which helps vets and people in crisis. He was one of the greatest drummers and most of his best work came with just one arm.
