Hello everyone! This week I’m taking a look at Michael J. Fox. Born in Edmonton Alberta June 9th 1961. Fox took off onto the big screen as Alex P. Keaton in Family Ties and Marty McFly in Back to the Future. Fox’s career exploded after that as he made movies such as Teen Wolf, Casualties of War, and Doc Hollywood. Fox’s life would take a challenging turn in 1991 when he went to get a twitching finger checked out by doctors. He was diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease. A disease that mainly affects the motor system and normally is onset in people over 60 years old.
Fox who showed signs at an early age and the prime of his career used his disease to raise awareness and money for Parkinson’s research. The Michael J. Fox foundation has raised a billion dollars to try and understand the disease. Fox has stayed active over the years acting in numerous shows and movies. Although he battled depression and alcoholism he has found a way to stay positive and find the light in dark places. Fox has been a staple in the Hollywood community and I hope his research will pay off as he enters his Sixties and his disease worsens. Have a great week everyone.
