The POP-EXPOSE

THE POP EXPOSE ‘Remembering Kenneth Osmond’ By Mitchell Smith!

Kenneth Osmond best known for playing Eddie Haskell on “Leave it to Beaver” passed away Monday May 18th. Born in 1943 in Glendale, CA. He started taking acting classes at 4 years old and was soon doing commercials. In 1957 Osmond tried out for a roll playing Wally Cleaver’s best friend. Eddie was meant to be a 1 time character but Osmond did such a good job playing the character that they added him to the show as a full time character. Eddie was such a good character.

The 1957 show was a very wholesome show and Osmond’s character brought a little spice to the show as he portraying the trouble maker friend. During the show Osmond was part of the Army reserves and took time off from the show to do his duty. In 1970 Osmond joined the LA police department. He was once shot 5 times in a foot chase against a robber in 1980. His bullet proof vest stopped 4 bullets and the 5th was stopped by his belt buckle.

He retired from the police force in 1988 and carried on with his life. Osmond made several TV appearances over the years and reprised his roll as Eddie Haskell in the 1997 film “Leave It To Beaver. Osmond seems to have had a peaceful and fulfilling life. I can’t imagine how “Leave It To Beaver” would have been without the strange little friend in it, he was great in that show and I’m happy they noticed his talent and changed the part for him. His service to our country and his bravery on the LAPD will be honored across the country. Yet another great has fallen but will not be forgotten. Rest in Peace Eddie.
