The POP-EXPOSE ‘The WWE‘ by Mitchell Smith!
Professional Wrestling has been around for decades and wrestling entertainment goes back centuries. In the mid 80’s the WWF was at its peek(they later had to change their name to the WWE but I will always know it as the WWF.) I wasn’t a huge fan of the WWF growing up but my older brother was so I had to watch it. It was hard not to take a liking to the entertainment and follow some of the characters that were created.
Hulk Hogan was one of the top wrestlers and popularized Wrestling and made the WWE what it is today. Some of the great wrestlers of the eighties include, Rowdy Roddy Piper, the Iron Sheik, Hacksaw Jim Duggan, and the only two I was able to see at a live match were Andrey the Giant, and Jimmy Superfly Snuka. This is just a few of the hundreds if not thousands of men and women who have participated in the WWF/WWE. The WWF provided plenty of entertainment and I remember wrestling with my friends and reenacting WrestleMania many a times.
I never had any of the figures but the figures were huge and still are, although I don’t follow wrestling anymore, I always see full shelves of figures, so I guess it has stayed popular today. Sgt Slaughter also made his way into the Joe world as a main character and was part of the popularization of the WWF in the 80’s. Over the years there has been some over the top drama, cheating, revenge, and some good old fashioned cage matches to create hours and years of entertainment. It’s always a good time to sit around and talk with friends about some of the old wrestlers. Good times.
