It seems with most fans that Mark Wahlberg was the only saving grace of Transformers #4. To that end it seems like there is a really good chance he will be returning for Transformers #5. For the full skinny on this check out the article below and let us know what you think after the JUMP!
If you took time out of your life to go to the theater this year and see ‘Transformers: Age of Extinction,’ then you know that one of the better parts of that wacky film was Mark Wahlberg. The Boston native’s performance as a small town Texas inventor was just one of the exceedingly silly elements of the film, but he was actually pretty fun to watch. As it turns out, Wahlberg also enjoyed starring in a ‘Transformers’ movie, and he’ll be back for more in ‘Transformers 5’—but that was kind of obvious, right?
Regardless of how you feel about the ‘Transformers’ franchise, we can all pretty much agree that Wahlberg’s performance in ‘Age of Extinction’ made sitting through that film less taxing than usual. (We should also thank national treasure Stanley Tucci for his assistance as well.) Today brings some great news for fans of both ‘Transformers’ and the former Marky Mark:
In an interview with MTV, Wahlberg said that he’s committed for “a couple more” of these ‘Transformers’ films, which makes sense given that director Michael Bay used ‘Age of Extinction’ as a sort-of-reboot, introducing Wahlberg’s new protagonist character and his daughter, played by newcomer Nicola Peltz.
You can watch the whole interview with Wahlberg below. For now, it’s unclear who will direct the fifth film, as Bay has said that he’s done with the franchise for now—although he’s likely still acting as an executive producer. But in the interview, Wahlberg says “You know I can’t speak for Mr. Bay, but something tells me we’ll be on the set soon.” Take that however you like.
