Weird: The Al Yankovic Story!

Story by Mitchell Smith

Hello everyone. This week I’m taking a look at Weird: The Al Yankovic Story now streaming on Roku. This is an interesting movie and I think it will be one of those movies that we will be talking about for years to come. First off the movie itself is a spoof on Weird Al’s life. Much like his music it’s a little hard to understand what is fact and what is fiction. Weird Al came on the scene and was an instant hit spoofing hit songs in the eighties.

I remember hearing him on the radio as a kid and at first you thought a hit song was coming on the air and then you would be belly laughing at Weird Al’s spoof. Songs like “Eat It”, “Like a Surgeon” and “Amish Paradise” are still popular today. My son took a liking to him when he heard songs like “Yoda”, “I Think I’m a Clone Now”, and “Jurassic Park”.

He has so many hits through the decades and he definitely is a one of a kind performer. You know you made it when Weird Al does one of your songs! Daniel Radcliffe does a great job playing Weird Al and there are a lot of eighties and nineties performers spoofed in the movie. Over all it is a great film so make sure you check it out. Have a great week everyone.
