G.I. JOE UNDERAPPRECIATED FEATURING “TRIPWIRE”!

Welcome to the Outpost. Today I’m taking a look at a G.I. Joe figure from 1983, Tripwire. Tripwire is a figure I did not have as a kid, but I did have the brown pack with mines from the 1984 battle gear accessory pack. I always thought he was a cool unique figure but may be considered under appreciated. Tripwire was used a little in the cartoon but quickly fell to a background character. His 2nd, 3rd, and 4th versions are all repaints of the original figure. I thought he would have been one to get a 90’s upgrade but no dice.
Also there was never a 12 inch version which would have been really cool but, that may be in the works for a custom. Hasbro did do a very nice 2008 modern figure, but even though this one looks great with the helmet on it would have been really cool to get this one with a removable helmet. I did an easy head swap, and I think he looks pretty good without the helmet as well. I did take an extra Tripwire head and hollowed it out so it would fit the head swap. Let me know what you think.
Finally Hasbro did him right with the 6 inch Classified figure. Not only can Tripwire seek out mines but he is also equipped with bomb squad gear and can actually go and disarm bombs. This brings a whole new life to Tripwire, just wish someone would have thought of this for an o-ring or modern Tripwire. I’d love to see a modern series with some of the original characters in modern situations, like Tripwire disarming a car bomb or something. Who loves Tripwire?
