By Destro Designs — Viper Den Studios Just like movies, sequels to figures can really be a letdown. Sometimes G.I. Joe Version 2 figures took everything great about an original character and somehow made it even better. Other times, Hasbro took an absolutely iconic design and followed it up with something that made you wonder what the hell happened. And there may be no better example of that than the Snow Serpent. Snow Serpent V2 — How Do You Follow an All-Time Classic With This? The original 1985 Cobra…

By Destro Designs – Viper Den Studios G.I. Joe Mad Marauders is a pretty cool concept. Take the Sarge and give him a crew of great soldiers to bring it to Cobra. What’s not to like? It’s definitely very cool, and despite being a little outside my normal color palette, I can still get down with the flavor. When I was young, Mad Marauders wasn’t nearly as cool to me as the Classified versions of these figures are today. With that said, I feel like the vehicles they had back…

The G.I. Joe franchise has remained an indomitable force in the toy industry for decades, captivating generations with its heroic characters and thrilling storylines. While it’s true that independent creators and fan innovations have gained momentum, the claim that nostalgia has outstayed its welcome or that “fans do the best work” overshadows corporate efforts is a sweeping generalization—especially when it comes to the G.I. Story By Mitchell Smith Welcome to The Outpost. 1994 was a sad year for GI Joe fans. Hasbro decided to end the 3-3/4 inch Joe line. Most of the eighties kids who had grow up on Joes now were in high school, college, or starting a family. Joes faded out and most of us didn’t even know it at the time, Me being one of them as I graduated high school this year and started college. Nevertheless years later I rediscovered GI Joe. There was a vast sea of Joe…

Story By Mitchell Smith Welcome to The Outpost. 1987 was an interesting year. This was the year Aretha Franklin was inducted to the Hall of Fame, the Montreal Expos were still a team and G.I. Joe had potentially peaked and was on an uncontrollable slide. There were still some awesome vehicles being produced like the Cobra Wolf, Battle Force 2000 base, and one of the holy grails themselves the Defiant space shuttle. There were also a great lineup of characters such as Falcon, Tunnel Rat and Law and Order from…

Welcome to the Outpost. Today I’m taking a look at the 1994 G.I. Joe Manta Ray. This year was slim picking for GI Joe vehicles. Although the Manta Ray is not a vehicle many people are after it is a neat little vehicle with a few gimmicks that may have been fun back in the day. This does inflate much like the inner tubes at the Lazy River, so this would have been fun in the pool or even at bath time I suppose. Underneath there is a rubber band…
