Exploring the Iconic Pythona: A Custom 6-Inch G.I. Joe Masterpiece

Story by Mitchell Smith

Welcome to the Outpost. Today I’m taking a look at G.I. Joe Pythona. Particularly a 6 inch custom I got on EBay. The 1987 Gi Joe The Movie introduced many characters. Some, people loved some, people did not. I was one of those kids that loved all the new characters including Cobra La. The opening scene featured one character that was a great character but there was no figure to back up that coolness.

Pythona has always been one of my favorite characters. She was stealthy, sleek, and able to single handedly penetrate Serpentor’s Lair. It took nearly 30 years for Hasbro to put out a Pythona figure. Unfortunately this was one I had to pass on at the time. I was able to get a really cool 1/6 classified custom that’s looks pretty nice. I’m not sure who did the work but I give them credit.

I added a cloak and I think this will go nicely with the Once Was a Man Cobra Commander that one of our own YTJ hooked me up with. I’d love to see an O-ring style figure down the road. Who loves Pythona? Make sure to check back for our next discussion.
