Idris Elba up for Lead Villain Role in Star Trek 3?

Now it looks like he is under serious consideration to play the lead villain in the upcoming Star Trek 3 film. Will he be a Klingon? Idris Elba is quickly becoming an in-demand star for genre movies – including now one of the longest-running franchises if a new report pans out.

Variety is citing unnamed sources to report that Idris Elba is in talks to play the primary villain in Star Trek 3. The film is set to begin production in June with recently hired director Justin Lin. Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto, Simon Pegg, Karl Urban, Zoe Saldana and Anton Yelchin all confirmed to reprise their roles.

Given their standing in Star Trek lore and their brief introduction in Star Trek: Into Darkness, the potential casting of Elba would do nothing to eliminate speculation that the Klingons could be the new film’s main adversary.
