MY FAVORITE G.I.JOE FROM 1992 – STORY BY MITCHELL SMITH!

Welcome to the Outpost. 1992 was an interesting year for me as far as G.I.Joe collecting goes. I had gotten interested in many things. I was in drama club, chorus, played soccer, basketball, and baseball, joined the volunteer fire department, and still held down my job where I was washing dishes and learning how to cook as well. G.I. Joe was still cranking out some cool stuff that I was completely oblivious to. As I mentioned before I was extremely lucky to pick up this line in a collection I bought. There were still some cool characters being created like, Bulletproof, Big Bear, and one of my favorites Overkill. There were also some revamped characters like Duke, Zap, and a cool Wet-Suit without a helmet that could be switched with the original figure to bring him a bit more to life.
The one figure that stood out the most for me was Barricade. He just seemed like a cool new character and the blue and gold jumped out and grabbed me. I think a lot of kids were in my boat in 1992 where they were in high school and never had figures from this year, and never got the experience of getting one as a gift or maybe only having 1 or 2 and they became their favorites. Then there are those who were just starting to get into it.
Either way having them in hand and seeing them up close makes all the difference. I think this was still a solid year and I like a lot of the figures, and the originality and the reinvention of some staple characters. Who’s your favorite from 1992? Make sure to check back for my favorite 1993 figure.
