Read MoreWelcome to the Outpost. Today I’m taking a look at the G.I.Joe character that inspired the Outpost name. Outback is one of those characters that is a huge fan favorite and correct me if I’m wrong but has never been in a cartoon. Looks like he may have some comic book time but this is a character that would be a great use in a show, or even the live action movie could have added an Outback character. Any hoot this is one figure I had as a kid. This is one of the…

Read MoreThe NES hit shelves in the US in 1985. I remember renting the system from our local grocery store. I mostly played Mario and Zelda. When the Super NES hit in 1991 this was the best thing since sliced bread. I had a ton of games and I had major battles with my brothers and friends. My son and I recently played Zelda A Link to the Past. Back in the day it took me and my 3 brothers playing round the clock trial and error to figure out the…
Read MoreWelcome to the Outpost. This week we are talking 1991 G.I.Joe vehicles. 1990 had a number of great vehicles and by 1991 The Chicago Bulls won their first of 6 championships with Michael Jordan, Scott Norwood of the Buffalo Bills went wide right to loose the first of 4 straight Super Bowls, and the undeniable decline of vehicles. There were still some cool vehicles but over all this was the weakest year since the line started in 1982. I did not have any of these as a kid and I do own…

Read MoreWelcome to the Outpost. 1986 was a bit of a turning point for G.I. Joe. The previous 4 years had posted some awesome figures and vehicles and the success and popularity was mounding. This led to creative ideas and some pretty awesome characters and figures. The 1989 B.A.T. was a very cool idea. Cobra troopers, Vipers, and Crimson Guards really didn’t get hurt in the cartoon, but the Battle Android Troopers were characters that could be ripped apart and destroyed and it was just a machine with a human type bodies,…

Read MoreWelcome to the Outpost. Today I’m hitting up a character that I didn’t know much about until I started collecting G.I.Joe. 1992 introduced Overkill the B.A.T. leader. This is an interesting character. He started out a 3rd generation B.A.T. and ended up being more advanced than the rest of the BATs. He was kind of a goof in the cartoon, but he seemed like he should have been or perhaps would have been a bit more ruthless had he been thought up in the 80s. I often wonder if the Star Wars…
