The eagerly awaited sequel to his 2012 sci-fi drama “Prometheus” will be called “Alien: Paradise Lost,” director Ridley Scott reveals.

“You know the poem?” the filmmaker asked interviewer from HeyUGuys, referring to John Milton’s famous work. “I’m sure you’ve never been through it, the poem’s a book, ‘Paradise Lost.’ It sounds intellectual, but there’s a similarity to it. That’s where it stops.”

Word of the title follows quickly on the heels of news that Scott envisions three sequels to “Prometheus,” with the last tying into his 1979 classic “Alien.”

Starring Michael Fassbender and Noomi Rapace, “Alien: Paradise Lost” is expected to begin production early next year.
