G.I. JOE INSIDE THE FILE CARDS FEATURING “Rock-n-Roll”!

Serpentorslair Staff, , 0 comment

Today’s focus is the G.I. Joe character Rock-n-Roll. He is possibly the simplest of all the OG13 to figure out as he only has “Infantry” listed as his PMS and “PT Instructor” as his SMS. So going with that he is an 11B Infantryman who may have attained a Special Qualifications Identifier (SQI) H of Instructor. It is very possible he went to classes for it and attained this SQI and briefly was an instructor. Years ago the US Army had a program where those who couldn’t meet the minimum…

Exploring the Epic 1989 G.I. Joe Mini Series: ‘Operation Dragonfire’!

Serpentorslair Staff, , , , 0 comment

Story by Mitchell Smith Welcome to the Outpost. Today I’m taking a look at the the 1989, 4 episode G.I. Joe mini series “Operation Dragonfire”. For me and I’m sure many others out there we had 12 inch Joes, 1982 Joes, and grew up on the original GI Joe animated series. The 1987 GI Joe the movie was when I stopped watching GI Joe. Not for any reason other than I was getting older and was playing sports, working, and partying and didn’t have the time. Somewhere in the world…

G.I. JOE STORIES – “Python Officer’s Venomous Gambit”!

Serpentorslair Staff, , 0 comment

Title: Python Officer’s Venomous Gambit In the treacherous world of covert warfare, the line between friend and foe could blur, alliances could shift like desert sands, and loyalty could be bought for a price. This tale begins with a daring infiltration, a stolen secret, and a tense standoff within the imposing walls of Castle Darklon, where G.I. Joe’s finest faced their deadliest adversaries. Chapter 1: Infiltration The country of Wulkukukland was a remote, rugged terrain nestled between mountains and dense jungle. It was also the home of G.I. Joe’s secret…

G.I. JOE UNDERAPPRECIATED FEATURING “1987 Gung-Ho”!

Serpentorslair Staff, , 0 comment

Story by Mitchell Smith Welcome to the Outpost. Today I’m taking a look at a 1987 G.I. Joe figure that I feel is under appreciated. I love Gung-Ho in dress blues and had this figure as a kid. For me I would love to see a modern version and a Classified version of Gung-Ho. It goes further for me, I thought it would have been cool to see other characters in dress uniforms. Duke, Roadblock, and Ace are just a few characters that would have looked cool in dress uniform.…

G.I. JOE STORIES – “Shipwreck’s Journal”!

Serpentorslair Staff, , 0 comment

Shipwreck’s Journal Entry Date: September 14, 1985 Ahoy there, shipmates! Shipwreck here, and I’ve decided to put pen to paper today to spill the beans about a little somethin’ that’s been on my mind for quite some time now. It’s not often that a sailor like me finds himself in a situation like this, but heck, if it ain’t a tale worth tellin’, then I don’t know what is. Now, I reckon y’all know me as the wisecrackin’, parrot-totin’ sailor who’s always up for an adventure with the G.I. Joe…

G.I. JOE INSIDE THE FILE CARDS FEATURING “COBRA OFFICER”!

Serpentorslair Staff, , 0 comment

Today we look at the G.I. Joe Cobra Officer, whose PMS is “Infantry” and SMS is “Artillery, Intelligence”. From a military perspective that is three branches, which would be difficult to achieve. But maybe Cobra trains their officers just enough that they are “jack of all trades” and not necessarily a master of any. It also lists on the officer filecard that they are martial arts experts, masters of disguise, deceit, and demolitions. So three options come to mind: do officers come from the regular trooper ranks (since both have…

G.I. JOE UNDERAPPRECIATED FEATURING “HARDBALL”!

Serpentorslair Staff, , 1 Comment

Welcome to the Outpost. Today I’m taking a look at a 1988 G.I. Joe figure that I feel is under appreciated, “Hard Ball“. Hardball was part of the yearly sports figure that Hasbro started doing in 1985 with Bazooka. I did not have a Hardball back in the day, but this is a really cool figure. I did play baseball in high school and much like Hardball I played centerfield and no scouts were looking at me. All jokes aside I don’t remember Hardball in the cartoon and I couldn’t…

G.I. JOE STORIES – “JUNGLE WARFARE”!

Serpentorslair Staff, 0 comment

As the thick, oppressive jungle of Sierra Gordo closed in around them, G.I. Joe Recondo and his comrade Yorktown Joe knew they were in the fight of their lives. Their mission, shrouded in secrecy, was to stop the evil Croc Master from unleashing a terrible catastrophe upon the world. The jungle was their battlefield, and death lurked behind every vine-draped tree and beneath every murky, reptilian-infested swamp. Recondo had always been a master of jungle warfare. With his keen survival skills and unparalleled knowledge of the wild, he was the…

Star Wars Return Of The Jedi Black Series 6″ Endor Trooper Review!

Serpentorslair Staff, , , 0 comment

Welcome to Hondo’s Hideout. Today I’m taking a look at the 6 inch Star Wars Black Series Return of The Jedi Endor Trooper. A cool trooper to say the least but Hasbro missed out on a huge selling point. So this has 2 faces much like the Hoth trooper, but they are not compatible. Really Hasbro are you trying not to increase sales? I’m no brain Surgeon but making the Hoth trooper compatible with the Endor trooper, right there you are selling 4 figures instead of 1. Deep breath. Put…

G.I. JOE INSIDE THE FILE CARDS FEATURING “GRUNT”!

Serpentorslair Staff, , 0 comment

Today’s featured G.I. Joe is Grunt (my first Joe). Grunt is listed as “Infantry” for PMS and “Small Arms Armorer” and “Artillery Coordinator” as his SMS. The codename “Grunt” to me signifies that he has always been just a “grunt”. However with the addition of small arms armorer and artillery coordinator that to me would indicate he is more than just a typical “grunt”. An “artillery coordinator” sounds very much like a US Army MOS 13F Fire Support Specialist. These are the soldiers that sneak in close to enemy lines…
