MY FAVORITE G.I.JOE FROM 1993 – STORY BY MITCHELL SMITH!

Serpentorslair Staff, , 0 comment

Welcome to the Outpost. 1993, what can I say about this year? G.I. Joes didn’t really look like a military line anymore. There were a bunch of mail away figures, Street Fighter, Ninja Force, Star Brigade, and very bright Mega Marines. Desert Storm was fresh in the minds of Americans and Hasbro did not jump on making the characters in desert garb. They went a different direction and seemed to try and separate from the military. This is an interesting line though. I like a lot of the figures like…

MY FAVORITE G.I.JOE FROM 1992 – STORY BY MITCHELL SMITH!

Serpentorslair Staff, , 0 comment

Welcome to the Outpost. 1992 was an interesting year for me as far as G.I.Joe collecting goes. I had gotten interested in many things. I was in drama club, chorus, played soccer, basketball, and baseball, joined the volunteer fire department, and still held down my job where I was washing dishes and learning how to cook as well. G.I. Joe was still cranking out some cool stuff that I was completely oblivious to. As I mentioned before I was extremely lucky to pick up this line in a collection I…

MY FAVORITE G.I.JOE FROM 1991 – STORY BY MITCHELL SMITH!

Serpentorslair Staff, , , 2 Comments

Welcome to the Outpost. 1991 was the first year since 1982 that my brothers and I didn’t get something G.I. Joe. So it wasn’t till around 2015 when I bought a collection that had pretty much every figure from 1990 to 1994 in it that I got a figure from this time frame. It was a whole new world for me and I had not payed much attention to the nineties stuff so there were many new characters and many new versions of characters I had grown up with. There…

MY FAVORITE G.I.JOE FROM 1990 – STORY BY MITCHELL SMITH!

Serpentorslair Staff, , 0 comment

Welcome to the Outpost. 1990 was the dawn of a new era not only for G.I. Joes but for humanity itself. We were in the dwarf stages of a technological explosion. Yes we had plenty of electronics in the eighties but the internet and cell phones were on the verge of changing the world. This just happened to be the last year I would receive Joes for Christmas. There were still some solid Joes like Salvo, Sub-Zero, and Rampart non of which I got this year. I did get some…

MY FAVORITE G.I.JOE FROM 1989 – STORY BY MITCHELL SMITH!

Serpentorslair Staff, , , 0 comment

Welcome to the Outpost. 1989 was another crazy year for me. Life started moving pretty fast. I was making some pretty good cash working at the restaurant at this point but there weren’t any stores within a half hour of me so I wasn’t going out and getting every G.I.Joe I wanted. So once more I would bank on Christmas Day and this proved to be another great year. There were some cool G.I.Joe sub teams like Python Patrol, cool vehicles like the Crusader, (I still have my original), and…

MY FAVORITE G.I.JOE FROM 1988 – STORY BY MITCHELL SMITH!

Serpentorslair Staff, , , 0 comment

Welcome to the Outpost. Today I’m jumping right into the G.I.Joe’s released in 1988. This was a year for me. I had gotten a job washing dishes at the local restaurant. I learned how to drive (a few years before I was legal), and once again I got a major haul, along with my brothers, for X-Mas. I had a Phantom, Warthog, and a Tigerfly, all cool vehicles. I also got several cool figures like Voltron, Hit & Run, and Iron Grenadier. This was a solid year that I really…

MY FAVORITE G.I.JOE FROM 1987 – STORY BY MITCHELL SMITH!

Serpentorslair Staff, , , , 2 Comments

Welcome to the Outpost. 1987 is a year a lot of G.I. Joe fans started to loose interest. The original fans were getting older and some did not like the whole Cobra La theme. Then there were those who were just getting interested in G.I. Joe. For me I was just getting rolling. I loved the movie and once again my brothers and I got most of the vehicles and figures from this year. This year I knew what was mine was theirs and what was theirs was mine. I…

MY FAVORITE G.I.JOE FROM 1986 – STORY BY MITCHELL SMITH!

Serpentorslair Staff, , , , 0 comment

Welcome to the Outpost. Many G.I. Joe fans feel 85 was the hey day for the franchise. I love 85, but 1986 was the first year I got figures and vehicles that were mine. Even though my brother and I always shared it was still nice to say this one is mine. My older brother bought Wet-Suit on a trip to Canada that year. For Christmas I got Serpentor, Thrasher, and Low-Light. My brothers also got Sci-Fi, Motor Viper, and Lift-Ticket. Over all we got almost every figure and vehicle…

MY FAVORITE G.I.JOE FROM 1985 – STORY BY MITCHELL SMITH!

Serpentorslair Staff, , , 0 comment

Welcome to the Outpost. 1985 was one of the best years for G.I. Joe. Some of the all time greats came out for vehicles including the holy grail U.S.S. Flagg. My brother got a Snow Cat and the Crimson Twins this year. These are still some of my all time favorites. I also was able to get my hands on some birthday cash and buy Footloose and Shipwreck. I also got a Crankcase that year but I think that was my younger brother’s. Any hoot Shipwreck was one of my…
