Batman The POP-EXPOSE

The POP-EXPOSE ‘The Many Faces of Batman’ by Mitchell Smith!

Batman was created by artist Bob Cane and writer Bill Finger and first appeared in Detective Comics #27 in 1939. Also known as the Caped Crusader and Dark Night, Batman has been around and developed into live action TV and movie. Over the years the Batmobile has changed and the Batman Armor has been tweaked, but for the most part Batman is Batman. However there have been several actors who have played Batman and I don’t want to do a top 10 list, but more of a recognition of the actors…

The POP-EXPOSE ‘Star Wars 40th Anniversary’ by Mitchell Smith!

Star Wars just celebrated it’s 40th Anniversary. Lately I’ve been watching lots of classic movies from the 50’s, 60’S and 70’s and I’ve been saying to myself – that sounds so Star Wars, but wait Star Wars wasn’t around back then. So then I thought these movies must have been a huge influence on Lucas and his crew writing and developing Star Wars. One thing Star Wars has though that most of these films do not have are a line of merchandise most importantly a line of action figures.…

The POP-EXPOSE ‘Thirteen Reasons Why’ by Mitchell Smith’!

‘Thirteen Reasons Why‘ is a 2007 novel written by Jay Asher about a teenage girl who commits suicide, and leaves behind 7 cassette tapes explaining what lead to this tragic decision. In March of this year Netflix released a 13 part series based on the book. This is not a show I normally would have watched or even checked out, until my 7th grade daughter told me she had watched it. Curious as to what it was I looked into the series and felt compelled to watch it and find…

G.I. Joe APC vs. The Warthog Story by Mitchell Smith!

Two of my favorite G.I.Joe vehicles are the 1983 APC and the 1988 Warthog, both were Joe transports that could go on land and sea. The toys both really floated and Although the APC could carry 28 figures as apposed to the Warthogs 9, the Warthog had a few more features and a lot more fire power. Not to say I don’t love the APC, but the Warthog had grenade launchers on the side and 2 large missiles on top. The APC was awesome for it’s time and honestly still…

The POP-EXPOSE ‘George Lucas’ by Mitchell Smith’!

George Lucas was master at creating characters. Fourty years ago Lucas was just moments away from finalizing a film that would change the world. All the blood, sweat, and tears were coming at least to a place where he would see if he had done something better than what a lot of critics considered sub par work. Lucas had fought and clawed to keep his project alive and when it finally released its first sneak peek audiences were instantly captivated by Star Wars. When it hit the big screen in May…

The POP-EXPOSE ‘Martika’s Toy Soldier’ by Mitchell Smith!

Back in 1989 one of my favorite songs was Toy Soldier by Martika. In the rise of the POP era the song was very catchy and didn’t mean a whole lot to a 15 year old sitting on the bus waiting to head to the amusement park. The song was catchy and did hit #1 for a couple weeks. In 2004 Eminem used some of Martika’s song in his own song Like Toy Soldiers. The song itself was more then just a catchy pop tune written by some person in…

The POP-EXPOSE ‘The 12″ Action Figure’ by Mitchell Smith’!

The 12 inch G.I. Joe was created in 1963 and marketed first in 1964 to compete with the success of Barbie. G.I. Joe was aimed at boys and represented the military and later on went to a more non military figure to aim at promoting peace but adventurous, so they would not be boring. Over the years the 12 inch figure has stayed strong in other lines as well as G.I. Joe. Other lines include Star Wars, Marvel, and WWE. There is still a strong hold with Military, police, and…

Could 1986 Be The Greatest Year Of Our Childhood?

Growing up in the 1980’s and 1990’s, kids like myself had a lot of great ground floor franchises and hobbies to sink plenty of our after school and weekend hours into. Be it playing in the backward “jungle” with our G.I. Joe and Transformers figures, watching DuckTales and TMNT cartoons everyday after school, or playing our Nintendo’s and Sega Genesis consoles to the early morning sunrise on a Friday night. Life was good. Looking back now some 30 plus years later, one year still sticks out to me as…

The POP-EXPOSE ‘One Shining Moment 2017′ by Mitchell Smith’!

The NCAA Basketball Tournament has had many memorable moments including blowouts, upsets, last second shots, and raw emotions. The Final four is always a major milestone for any team to reach and if one team can put together that one monumental championship game it may go down in history. The Oregon Ducks won the first NCAA championship game beating Ohio State 46 to 33. This must have been a real barn burner, remember there was no 3 pointers or shot clocks back then, so there must have been a lot…

Star Wars ‘DR. Evazan and Ponda Baba’ Get A Film!

Story by Mitchell Smith The Next Star Wars movie should be about DR. Evazan and Ponda Baba! Disney has the next few years covered with backstories on characters with the Han Solo story confirmed, Boba Fett Story, and a number of others on the horizon. Rouge One had a quick scene with 2 characters I would love to see the movie made on and by bringing Dr. Evazan and Ponda Baba to the big screen we also could get another longer closer look at the Mos Eisley Cantina. These 2…
