The POP-EXPOSE

THE POP EXPOSE – Burgess Meredith!

Story By Mitchell Smith

Hello everyone, today I’m taking a look at one of the greatest actors of the 20th Century Burgess Meredith. Oliver Burgess Meredith was born in 1907 in Cleveland, OH. He had a career that spanned from 1929 right up to his death in 1997. Meredith joined the military during WWII and worked his way up to Captain and was in the 1945 film The Story of G.I. Joe. Meredith had many big rolls throughout his career including George in the 1939 film Of Mice and Men, the Penguin in the 1960’s Batman TV show, Mickey from the Rocky movies, grandpa Gustafson from Grumpy Old Men, and of course was the voice of Golobulus in the 1987 G.I.Joe the movie.

I have enjoyed Meredith’s work over the years. So many different rolls that he nailed perfectly. I want to go back and watch some of his earlier films after researching some of his great work. Meredith has left his mark on the world and his work will be enjoyed by millions for and endless time to come. Is Burgess Meredith one of your favorite actors? Share which of his roles is your favorite in the comments!
