Story By Mitchell Smith
Hello everyone, today we lost another long time actress. Raquel Welch was born in 1940 in Chicago and grew up in California. At a young age Welch won several beauty contests including miss California. Welsh graduated high school and went right into college to study acting. In the early sixties she started getting minor rolls on tv shows like Bewitched and auditioned for the part of Mary Ann on Giligan’s Island. In 1966 she landed a main roll on Fantastic Voyage.
Welch would continue to land rolls on the big screen and in television. She had rolls on shows such as Seinfeld, CSI, and hosted SNL. Welsh was glamorous and coined a sex symbol which she appreciated but never intended to become. She has left her mark on the world and will be remembered in her many works on screen and off.
