Another month in the books and the dreaded 2020 is quickly coming to an end. The Queen’s Gambit is a Netflix mini series that was release back in October. I had a chance to watch it over the past couple of weeks and I was pleasantly surprised. The Main character Beth Harmon becomes an orphan in the 1950’s. She finally gets adopted in here teens and enters to compete in chess tournaments in a heavily male dominated game. Beth sets out to prove that a female can compete with the best in the world.
The show touches on some sensitive subjects such as addiction and substance abuse. Many of the issues Beth faces as a young woman still persist in today’s society. The show followers here much through the sixties and I find it very interesting to see some of the culture and fashion during the time period.
It has lots of drama and some twists and turns as she flashes back and unfolds the story of how she got to the point she was at when the show began. This is a really cool show so if you have not checked this one out, be sure to watch the first episode. The rest is very addicting. Are you a fan of ‘The Queen’s Gambit‘?
