‘The Rock’ as Roadblock in G.I.Joe Retaliation Story By Mitchell Smith!
Welcome to the Outpost. Today I’m talking about The Rock. I think The Rock was a good fit for Roadblock in G.I.Joe Retaliation, but would he have been more successful if they had casted him as The Rock much like they did Sgt. Slaughter back in the day? He already had a cool name that would have fit right in and he was already a household name in wrestling. Maybe there was a conflict with using The Rock name.
When the Sarge came in most kids probably watched WWF and the characters were unique and recognizable, so the Sarge did not need an introduction he just showed up and everyone knew who he was. I think even in a live action movie The Rock could have been incorporated into the movie as becoming a Joe. Although the face of wrestling was much different at the time I think everyone knew who The Rock was. I set up my Rock figure with Roadblock, they look awesome battling together. Who liked The Rock as Roadblock? And who thinks mabee he should have been cast as himself and another actor cast as Roadblock? MAKE THE JUMP to the forums and let us know!
