The Thicket (2024): A Modern Western Thriller Worth Watching

Hello everybody, today I’m taking a look at the 2024 Western Thriller “The Thicket”. The film is directed by Elliot Lester and based on the 2013 Novel by Joe Lansdale “The Thicket”. I found this movie on Tubi and had never heard of it. There is a nice cast of characters such as Peter Dinklage from “Game of Thrones” who plays Reginald Jones and Juliette Lewis who was Aubrey in “National Lampoons Christmas Vacation” who plays Cut Throat Bill the evil outlaw with a bounty on her head.
Other characters include James Hatfield frontman from Metallica, Levon Hawke Uma and Ethan Hawke’s son, Gbenga Akinnagbe from “The Wire”, Esmé Creed-Miles, Leslie Grace, Derek Gilroy, and David Midthunder are among the rest of the cast. This is a pretty good modern western movie. When you think of old time westerns you don’t think of women being gun slingers. I think Lewis did an outstanding job bringing the cold hearted killer character to life.
Dinklage adds a great perspective of a rough and tough Cowboy who may be the smallest man in the room but he stands taller than any one of them. In the end this is a great movie about family, love and loss and true friendship. If you have not watched this one it’s worth checking out. Have a great week everyone.
