G.I. JOE UNDERAPPRECIATED FEATURING THE ‘BATTLEFIELD ROBOT HOVERCRAFT’!

Welcome to the Outpost. Today I’m taking a look at an under appreciated G.I. Joe Cobra vehicle the 1989 Battlefield Robot Hovercraft. Not the most glamorous vehicle and comes with a less glamorous name, this is a vehicle I myself did not particularly like and I never had one at any time. Recently I came across one and picked it up just because I never had one. Now, coming into 1989 Hasbro had put out tons of awesome vehicles from the Vamp to the Condor. This little guy got over looked and respectively so. Compared to other toy lines though this one is kind of cool especially if you are a Joe fan.

One thing Hasbro was always good at is realizing not every parent could afford a Flagg and not every kid had enough room in their bedroom for a Defiant so they always but out cool small vehicles so everyone could have at least something. For me my favorite was the Silver Mirage. I played with that for countless hours as a kid. I’m sure there was some kid that got this Hovercraft as a kid and loved it as much as I loved the Silver Mirage.

There is some nice box art and I’m sure that was the selling point on this one. I think if this would have been a little more rectangular and there was a better mechanism for the propellers this might have been a fan favorite. Hasbro could have come up with a name also, how about the Cobra Float? Over all in hand this is a cool little vehicle that has its place in the Cobra world. Who loves this Cobra Hovercraft?
