The Rare 1997 GI Joe Lady Jaye 12-Inch Convention Exclusive

Story By Mitchell Smith
Welcome to The Outpost. Today I’m taking a look at one of the rarest G.I. Joe figures of all time. The 1997 4th annual International Collectors Convention staff exclusive 12 inch Lady Jaye figure. There were only 100 of these figures released and there were a few available to the public after figures were distributed amongst the staff for a price of $500.00. Now looking at some of today’s higher end 12 inch figures the comparison is night and day in quality and overall likeliness to a real life Lady Jaye, but this figure has its special spot for those Die Hard Joe fans.
It doesn’t happen very often but I was able to find one on EBay for around $2000, a little rich for my blood but if money were no object I for sure would add this figure to my collection. If you compare Lady Jaye to other figures from the same time period, this is an awesome figure. The uniform, gear, and head sculpt all look pretty nice on this figure. I believe this was the only ARAH era 12 inch female character released outside of the 2009 Convention Exclusive Baroness. I’m not sure why there was never a Scarlett, Cover Girl, Zarana or any other female figure but it would have been awesome to see some of these released to retail so I could have them in my collection today.
Overall this marks a spot in GI Joe history that was perhaps a better or maybe worse spot in history. Either way this is a cool rare figure and who knows someday I may stumble upon one to add to my collection. Make sure to check back next week for the next discussion at The Outpost.
