The POP-EXPOSE ‘David Lee Roth VS Sammy Hagar’ by Mitchell Smith!

Van Halen was formed in the early 70’s by Guitarist Eddie and his brother drummer Alex Van Halen. They have sense added Eddie’s son Wolfgang named after, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Wolfgang replaced long time bass guitarist Michael Anthony. David Lee Roth was the original singer from 1978-1985 and returned to the band in 2006, and Sammy was with the band from 1986-1996 and came back for a short time. There was also a 3rd lead singer but I never knew that till I started researching for this story, so I’m pretty much not counting him.

Hagar was a good fill for Roth, but he just wasn’t Roth. Van Halen sounds very similar with Roth and Hagar and they were successful with Hagar in the band. Hagar and Anthony teamed up in the 90’s as Los Tre Gusanos(the other half), and still perform today. I like Hagar, he has the look and has a killer voice, but I just love Roth’s explosiveness on stage and love his little narrations during songs like Aint Talkin’ Bout Love and Everybody Wants Some. Roth just had a certain way about himself and he was very much the success of their early career. Although “Jump” was there only song to hit #1 on the top 100 Billboard Van Halen is a staple band in the US and there music has ben unmatched by any other band.

Which lead was your favorite, Roth or Hagar? Sound off below and let us know AFTER THE JUMP!
