G.I.Joe ‘Cobra Comander’ Discussion by Mitchell Smith!

Welcome to the Outpost. Today I’m getting into a character that was the first face of evil of the G.I.Joe Universe, and is still going strong today, ‘Cobra Commander‘. Cobra Commander was the first enemy and the reason GI Joe was even needed. The original figure was a really cool mysterious looking figure and the hooded version brought just as many questions as the original. Cobra Commander was a great character back when the cartoon started and he still holds up today. My first Cobra Commander was the 1987 version.

I have always loved this version. This is probably my favorite version of Cobra Commander. I have over 20 versions of Cobra Commander and The 2013 v53 is my favorite modern version. It comes with a hood and a helmet head that can be swapped out, but the figure is just a nice version and really captures the original figures. There have also been multiple 12 inch Cobra Commanders which I have a few of these versions, but I don’t own one of the coolest versions made by sideshows back in 2014.

I do have a nice hooded 12 inch version from the 90s that looks really nice. I did a write up recently on the 6 inch version and I like the looks of this. Although other characters have tried to take over control of the terrorist organization, Cobra Commander has always been the coolest face of evil. The early eighties cartoons are my favorite and Cobra Commander always had great plans to take over the world and G. I. Joe always foiled his plans. Here is to all of his years of dedication. Which version is your favorite Cobra Commander? Sound off below and let us know AFTER THE JUMP! Make sure to check back for our next discussion.
