G.I. JOE UNDERAPPRECIATED FEATURING “1987 Gung-Ho”!

Story by Mitchell Smith

Welcome to the Outpost. Today I’m taking a look at a 1987 G.I. Joe figure that I feel is under appreciated. I love Gung-Ho in dress blues and had this figure as a kid. For me I would love to see a modern version and a Classified version of Gung-Ho. It goes further for me, I thought it would have been cool to see other characters in dress uniforms. Duke, Roadblock, and Ace are just a few characters that would have looked cool in dress uniform.

There is a 2004 comic pack General Flagg that uses the body of Headman which was also used to create the 2005 Tomax and Xamot which are really cool. I tossed a pic of 1993 Keel-Haul in as he was the only other figure I could find that was close to being in dress uniform.

Releasing a blue and green uniformed classified would be a big army builder I think. Overall the original is such a great figure and I would love to see more. Who had this Gung-Ho as a kid? Share your stories with us in the comments below. Make sure to check back for my next Joe discussion.
