G.I. JOE UNDERAPPRECIATED FEATURING ‘GEARS’!
Welcome to the Outpost, today I’m taking a look at a G.I. Joe figure and character that I think is under appreciated. 1994 Gears is one of my favorite characters of 1994. I did not have him as a kid and I’m not sure if he was ever in the cartoon or comics. His body is a reuse from the 1992 Barricade, which is another figure I love. They could have at least given him a different head but I like the character just from what I know about him from his file card. He came packaged with a power fighter. This is a robot Gears can sit in to control. I do not have the robot, but I have a knock off one that looks pretty cool. I think Gears could have been developed into a main character. He is a technological genius who helped bring Robo-J.o.e. to life?
I know a lot of people don’t care for Star Brigade but I think this would be a cool line to relaunch. Our telescopes and rovers are reaching further and further into space and this would be a great time to tap into space exploration. It would be easy to separate from Star Wars or other sci-fi lines. They could tap into modern space suits and equipment and create a realistic Star Brigade that we could relate to. Either way I love this figure and would love to see a new version of him.
