G.I.Joe ‘ZAP’ By Mitchell Smith!

Welcome to the Outpost. Today I’m jumping back to 1982 and an original G.I.Joe character who has had some nice updates over the years. Zap is the original bazooka soldier. Although he had a really cool signature mustache in the cartoon it wasn’t till 1991 till his figure came with a mustache. The 1991 figure is really cool though.

The Sonic Fighter has some oversized weapons and gear but the figure is cool and has a removable helmet. I have this version and I love this one. It is very different from the OG. Not to take anything away from the 1982 figure. This figure had a bazooka, and the few lucky ones have the double handled bazooka. The 2004 V3 figure that came in a comic 3 pack actually looks very true to the original character in the comic and cartoon. I do not have this version but it looks really good and I hope to add it one day. Finally Ill touch on the 2009 V5 .

I did break down and buy these whole set. The assault on Cobra Island pack has way to many great figures to pass up. I had to buy this one and I love every figure in this pack including one awesome Zap. Aside from my college frat being nicknamed the Zaps, I just love this character. He has always been a staple in the cartoon and the comics. I think he would have looked great as a 12 inch figure but I don’t recall there ever being one, and who knows about the 6 inch line, Zap would work for sure. Who are fans of Zap? Which version is your favorite? Sound off AFTER THE JUMP and let us know! Outpost Make sure to check back for our next discussion.
