Welcome to the Outpost. This week I’m taking a look at the 2005 G.I.Joe vehicles. I was 1 year a new father and that put me back in toy aisles and stores like TRU. There were lots of good stuff this year and I bought a vehicle for the first time in my life. All the other vehicles were all gifts. There were 4 convention exclusives this year. The Cobra Stealth Moray which is a blue and black version. This one looks really cool. Iron Grenadier Stealth AGP. This is a cool…

G.I.Joe ‘Shipwreck’ Discussion by Mitchell Smith!

November 19, 2020November 19, 2020 Serpentorslair Staffaction figures, G.I.Joe, Hasbro, Shipwreck, toy collecting0 comment

Welcome to the Outpost. Today I’m taking a look at one of the best G.I.Joe characters ever created, and one of the very first I bought with my own money, ‘Shipwreck‘. Shipwreck was introduced in 1985 and was an instant hit. I remember standing in Ames with my older brother and I liked the sailor suit, the name, his cool weapons, and Polly. I remember storing his pistol and anchor in a small match box. I still have the Polly minus his feet and Shipwrecks head. My brothers were rough on my…

G.I.Joe ‘Clutch’ Discussion By Mitchell Smith!

November 17, 2020November 17, 2020 Serpentorslair Staffaction figures, G.I.Joe, Hasbro, toy collecting0 comment

Welcome to the Outpost. Today I’m I’m jumping back to 1982 and talking about G.I. Joe’s first driver, ‘Clutch‘. This is one that my brother got for Christmas and he was really cool and unique for the original gang. First off he came with one of the coolest jeeps ever in any toy line. The design wasn’t over complicated but it has remained a popular vehicle today. Clutch was a nice figure with the black hair and beard. That figure just popped and looked awesome with Hawk sitting next to him towing the…

Welcome to the Outpost. This week I’m taking a look at the 2004 G.I.Joe vehicles. G.I Joe was in full gear with vehicles and figures in 2004, I was about to become a father for the first time, and I was back looking in toy aisles. There were a lot of hard choices that year and I passed on a lot of Joe stuff do to the fact that diapers won out over figures. There were 3 convention exclusives this year. The Tiger-Ray Hydrofoil a repaint of the original that is awesome. The Dreadnok…

G.I.Joe ‘Steam-Roller’ Discussion By Mitchell Smith!

November 13, 2020November 13, 2020 Serpentorslair Staffaction figures, G.I.Joe, Hasbro, toy collecting0 comment

Welcome to the Outpost. Today I’m checking out a G.I.Joe character from 1987. Steam-Roller was released exclusively with the Mobile Command Center, but was never used in the cartoon and correct me if I’m wrong but never used in the comics. My younger brother and I both got one of these for Christmas back in 1987. Looking back I wish I would have kept one in the box. Surprisingly enough Steam-Roller is one of a few I do not have in my collection today. This is a cool looking figure. Simple, he has just…

G.I.Joe ‘Cross-Country’ Discussion By Mitchell Smith!

November 12, 2020November 12, 2020 Serpentorslair Staffaction figures, ARAH, G.I.Joe, Hasbro, toy collecting0 comment

Welcome to the Outpost. Today I’m checking out another G.I.Joe driver and Mechanic. Cross-Country came on scene in 1986. I got a Havoc for Christmas that year and I still have some parts I use for battle damage because my dog chewed up some of the parts. I do have a couple complete ones now though. Any hoot, Cross-Country the country boy from Greensboro, NC (not to be confused with Greenbow, AL) was instantly one of my favorite characters. What a unique looking figure from head to toe. I always thought his head was slightly larger…

November 10, 2020November 10, 2020 Serpentorslair Staffaction figures, G.I.Joe, Hasbro, toy collecting0 comment

Welcome to the Outpost. I hope everyone is doing well and staying safe. Last week I had some snow before it turned unseasonably warm for my area. Nevertheless, I know the snow is inevitable so I’ll start this week off with one of my all time favorite G.I.Joe characters Frostbite. Frostbite was released in 1985 with one of my all time favorite vehicles the Snow Cat. I remember the day my older brother came home with this vehicle. I watched as he put it together and I had my chance to hold Frostbite as he assembled…

November 9, 2020November 9, 2020 Serpentorslair Staffaction figures, Hasbro, Star Wars, The Black Series, toy collecting0 comment

Welcome to the Outpost. Today I have a Monday special. As many of you G.I.Joe fans out there may know there is another franchise cranking out awesome figures, many in the 6 inch style and that would be Star Wars. Recently three Star Wars figures hit stores and instantly caught my eye. The Return of the Jedi forest Moon of Endor Luke Skywalker, Leia, and Han Solo. I was stoked to see these and I love the cloth Han coat and Luke and Leia ponchos. Luke and Leia also have the removable helmets which are really awesome. All come with…

Welcome to the Outpost. This week I’m taking a look at the 2003 G.I.Joe vehicles. G.I Joe was heading toward a major relaunch of Joe and Cobra vehicles. Once again this was a year with some vintage repaints as well as some new designs. There were a great number of figures released and G.I.Joe was very much back and operating in full gear. There were 2 convention exclusive vehicles a Blue Hiss Tank and a repainted mini Sub from the 1990 Hammerhead. Both look pretty cool and much like the 2002 lineup I do not own…

G.I.Joe ‘Grunt’ By Mitchell Smith!

November 6, 2020November 7, 2020 Serpentorslair Staffaction figures, G.I.Joe, Hasbro, toy collecting2 Comments

Welcome to the Outpost. Today we are talking about a G.I.Joe character from 1982 who may get over looked a bit and seems a little generic but never the less is one of my all time favorite characters, ‘Grunt‘. Grunt was a main character and over the years became a staple in the Joe lineup. He wasn’t always in the forefront but he was always ready to fight for his fellow Joes. Grunt had a few cool upgrades including the tan version and the 1991 version that I love. He has had a…

Welcome to the Outpost. Today we are taking a look at a 12 inch G.I.Joe figure and vehicle, the 2002 G.I.Joe Ocean Assault set. The 2002 Ocean Assault with Wet-Suit is one cool vehicle. This is a surfboard, a wind board, and a wind glider. The board itself is a pretty cool design complete with fins on the bottom of the board. The sail is a clear plastic piece with a cool spring loaded gun that fires two missiles. Then the sail detached and the whole thing becomes a glider. The Wet-Suit is a cool figure…
