May 16, 2021May 16, 2021 Serpentorslair Staffaction figuers, G.I.Joe, Hasbro, Sgt. Slaughter, Slaughters Marauders, toy collecting0 comment

Welcome to the Outpost. Today I’m taking a look at another G.I.Joe 1989 sub group that released a bunch of repainted figures that many people may not have found an original character but now they could get it in Slaughters Marauders colors. The color schemes itself is a bit of an acquired taste but the characters are pretty cool. First up is SGT. Slaughter and he is a nice figure but not quite the original. Barbecue was a character I loved but never had the original. and Barbecue are the…

G.I.Joe ‘AIRTIGHT’ Discussion by Mitchell Smith!

Welcome to the Outpost. Today I’m taking a look at one of my favorite 1985 G.I.Joe characters Airtight. One of the most memorable episodes for me was the Fun House where Airtight and several others were captured by Cobra Commander and forced to go through a maze of obstacles meant to hurt them. This is one I did not have as a kid but I do have a couple now. I also was fortunate enough to find the modern version which is really awesome. I really wanted a modern version…

G.I.Joe ‘Rolling Thunder’ Discussion by Mitchell Smith!

Welcome to the Outpost. Today I’m taking a look at the 1988 G.I.Joe Rolling Thunder. What a remarkable vehicle this one is. There are a ton of cool features on this vehicle and this thing has bad ass written all over it. I’ll start with the front. There are 2 separate canopies for the driver and the copilot. The back has a huge turret that seats 2 and there are 4 individual seats with guns. This thing is loaded with missiles including the 2 very large ones tucked away that…

G.I.Joe ‘TRIPLE T’ Discussion By Mitchell Smith!

Welcome to the Outpost. Today I’m taking a look at G.I.Joe Sgt. Slaughter and the Triple T. This is one I did not have as a kid but I loved the figure and the vehicle. Growing up in the eighties I had plenty of WWF characters to follow. It was crazy from George The Animal Steele eating the turn buckles to Hulk Hogan body slamming Andre the Giant. When The Sarge came on board with GI Joe it was a match made in heaven. He didn’t just fit in, he…

G.I.Joe ‘Hi-Tech’ Discussion By Mitchell Smith!

Welcome to the Outpost. Today I’m taking a look at a G.I.Joe character that was created for the evolving military. Hi-Tech came on board to create new technological weapons that are aimed more at defeating the enemy with more then just pointing a gun and blowing things up. Hi-Tech was introduced in 2004 in the Valor vs Venom series. I remember picking up this figure back in 2005 at Big Lots. The Dr. Mindbender figure is what caught my eye but Hi-Tech quickly became one of my favorite characters. Hi-Tech…

G.I.Joe ‘Sigma Six Villains’ Discussion By Mitchell Smith!

Welcome to the Outpost. Today I’m talking about some of the G.I.Joe Sigma 6 villains. There are a number of versions of some of the top characters and I have a few that I’ve picked up. Cobra Commander, Destro, Zartan, Firefly, and Storm Shadow are all staple characters in the G.I.Joe world and even though these figures are a bit of an acquired taste, I think they are really cool and maybe even pushed action figures toward the 6 inch world we know today. I really like the looks of…

Welcome to the Outpost. I’ve been talking about a lot of G.I.Joe sub groups as a whole lately and there is one group that I don’t believe was ever labeled as a sub group but certainly can be considered one. The group is the Dreadnoks. Zartan is the leader but the first three Ripper, Torch, and Buzzer were a huge part of the cartoon and one of my favorite lines is when they say ‘Ello ‘ello ‘ello, and it is followed up with them getting knocked out with an audios…

G.I.Joe ‘Slipstream’ Discussion By Mitchell Smith!

April 23, 2021April 23, 2021 Serpentorslair Staffaction figures, G.I.Joe, Hasbro, toy collecting0 comment

Welcome to the Outpost. Happy Friday everyone. This was a long week for me but it’s time to let the good times roll. Today I’m taking off with the G.I.Joe Conquest X-30 pilot Slip-Stream. Slip-Stream has 4 versions 1986, 2003, 2004, and modern 2008 version. This is one I got for Christmas in 1986 and is one of my favorite jets. I have a few original shells and it was a no brainer to pick up the 2008 version when it came out, I just wished I had grabbed more…

G.I.Joe ‘Red Spot’ Discussion by Mitchell Smith!

Welcome to the Outpost. Today I’m putting the G.I.Joe 2003 Red Spot in the spot light. He is listed as a laser trooper but I think of the red dot as more of a modern day sniper. That may open up a huge discussion but let’s see what happens. This is a really cool figure with a beautifully textured outfit that makes this figure pop. Along with the solid molded uniform he is equipped with a removable helmet and a ghillie suit that further enhances my theory on Red Spot…
