G.I.Joe ‘Baroness’ Discussion By Mitchell Smith!

October 1, 2020October 1, 2020 Serpentorslair Staffaction figures, G.I.Joe, Hasbro, toy photography0 comment

Welcome to the Outpost. Today I’m getting into another long time G.I.Joe ‘Cobra‘ character and perhaps one of the most popular The Baroness. The Baroness has been a part of the franchise since as long as I can remember. Although her first figure came in 1984, I feel she was a part of the cartoon before that. She was the one that was always getting behind Joe lines in disguise. There was an intricate love triangle happening there and many Joes were seduced by her beauty over the years. I have the 1984 version of…

Welcome to the Outpost. Today I’m skipping forward to discuss G.I.Joe Firefly. Firefly was added in 1984 and quickly became a staple Cobra character. The saboteur had a very unique look and eventually went hand in hand with other popular characters such as Snake Eyes and Storm Shadow. The original figure has a very cool color scheme and some awesome accessories. Firefly has a great tie in story with the Hard Master’s death and he has been a huge character over the years. There have been many great upgrades and although the 90s…

G.I.Joe ‘ZAP’ By Mitchell Smith!

Welcome to the Outpost. Today I’m jumping back to 1982 and an original G.I.Joe character who has had some nice updates over the years. Zap is the original bazooka soldier. Although he had a really cool signature mustache in the cartoon it wasn’t till 1991 till his figure came with a mustache. The 1991 figure is really cool though. The Sonic Fighter has some oversized weapons and gear but the figure is cool and has a removable helmet. I have this version and I love this one. It is very different from the OG.…

G.I.Joe ‘1993 Vehicles’ Discussion By Mitchell Smith!

September 27, 2020September 27, 2020 Serpentorslair Staffaction figures, G.I.Joe, Hasbro, toy collecting0 comment

Welcome to the Outpost. This week we are talking 1993 G.I.Joe vehicles. The 90’s vehicles were very different from the 80s, but there were still some nice unique vehicles that came out. The Ghoststriker X-16 is a really cool jet and it is one I have never had but I have been looking for an affordable one for years. The Shark 9000 is a vehicle I have and I love this one. It may not be a Killer Whale but this one is still fairly large and has as much play value…

Welcome to the Outpost. Today we are discussing the 1986 G.I.Joe Tomahawk. I love helicopters. The Fang, the Dragonfly, and the Mamba are all favorites of mine, but the Tomahawk is the number 1 greatest G.I. Joe helicopter. I had one of these as a kid and I remember sleeping with it I loved it so much. I think it had its own pillow LOL. What an awesome design this is. From the canopy, to the twin rotor blades, right down to the tip of the back cargo door. I remember…

Welcome to the Outpost. Today I’m talking about Metal-Head’s bestie in the G.I.Joe Dic Cartoon series, Gnawgahyde. This is one figure I had as a kid and one of my favorite figures from this year. He is a Dreadnok, he has awesome accessories, and he has a wild boar. Every accessory was just awesome that came with Gnawgahyde. The rifle, his knife, machete, bow, quiver that is a backpack, and of course his removable hat. The only other version came in the 2011 Dreadnok battle back. At the time this was too expensive and…

G.I.Joe ‘Metal Head’ Discussion by Mitchell Smith!

Welcome to the Outpost. 1990 is the last year I received G.I.Joes for Christmas. I had some nice figures but I did not get one cool one, Metal-Head. It wasn’t till many years later when I got back into G.I. Joe that I even knew who Metal Head was. When I got my first original Metal Head this was just a great figure. When I got back into watching the cartoon Metal Head was a very popular character and was used extensively. Although he came off as a bit of a loose cannon and…

G.I.Joe ‘1992’ Vehicles Discussion By Mitchell Smith!

September 20, 2020September 20, 2020 Serpentorslair Staffaction figures, G.I.Joe, Hasbro, toy collecting0 comment

Welcome to the Outpost. This week we are talking 1992 G.I.Joe vehicles. The 1991 was the weakest since the line started in 1982. Not to say the line was complete crap there were a lot of nice vehicles that year but I thought the 1992 lineup had better vehicles, but still not as good as the eighties. I was 16 in 92 so I was interested in cars, sports, and girls. G.I.Joe was outside on the back porch wondering what the hell happened. Once I got into collecting I naturally looked for what I…

G.I.Joe ‘Invader’ Discussion By Mitchell Smith!

September 18, 2020September 18, 2020 Serpentorslair Staffaction figures, G.I.Joe, Hasbro, toy photography0 comment

Welcome to the Outpost. Today I’m getting into the 1993 G.I.Joe Invader. The original Pogo Ballistic Battle Ball was interesting and I had one as a kid, but it didn’t really make a lot of sense. I guess that was an experimental time with maybe more the Joe vehicles LOL. This one went on the shelf and someone had an awesome vision and repurposed this vehicle into a spacecraft. This is a much more fitting profile for this vehicle. The vehicle had a nice new paint job and instead of this…

G.I.Joe ‘SCI-FI’ Discussion By Mitchell Smith!

September 17, 2020September 17, 2020 Serpentorslair Staffaction figures, G.I.Joe, Hasbro, toy collecting0 comment

Welcome to the Outpost. Today I’m going with another 1986 G.I.Joe character. Sci-Fi is another figure I received for Christmas in 1986. I loved the green and he came with an awesome pack and laser rifle. Sci-Fi has an upgraded figure in 1991, 93, 94, and a modern 2011 based on the original figure. Sci-Fi is one that I probably love each version more and more. Version 2 has a nice color scheme and my favorite feature a removable helmet. I wish they had remade the original with a removable helmet, but you can easily put…

G.I.Joe ‘Low Light’ Discussion By Mitchell Smith!

September 15, 2020September 15, 2020 Serpentorslair Staffaction figures, G.I.Joe, Hasbro, toy collecting0 comment

Welcome to the Outpost. Today I’m going back to 1986. There were a ton of awesome G.I.Joe characters created this year. Low-Light is one I received for Christmas that year. He is a very unique Character and appeared frequently in the cartoon. Low-Light is in an episode that revealed his dark side and some of his fears that had haunted him for many years. I loved the creation of his back story and I could associate to that no character. His original figure is just pure gold. He just looks great from head to…
