February 4, 2018July 4, 2021 Serpentorslair StaffG.I.Joe, G.I.Joe Comics, Larry Hama, Marvel Comics, Scarlett, Snake Eyes, Storm Shadow2 Comments

Background This comic by Larry Hama seems to be more iconic than the actual series. It is visually stunning and there are no words. But there is a story. If you don’t own this issue, you should find it and buy it. If you are a G.I. Joe fan, a ninja fan, or a comic connoisseur, you must see this issue. That being said, I’m going to limit the pictures in this review. Find this issue, open it up, and follow along! On to the issue. On the title page…

THE POP EXPOSE ‘Larry Hama’ By Mitchell Smith!

Larry Hama, born June 7th 1949, has done a lot of comic book work but is best know for his work on the G.I. Joe franchise. He spent 3 years in the Army during the Vietnam War as a firearms and explosive ordinance expert. Hama used his military background to create the G.I. Joe comics which was based off characters from the cartoon. He also wrote a majority of the file cards which is a staple to the Action figure and a must for collectors. I loved the file cards as a…

Background In the previous issue, major and important side characters on both sides died. This issue does not address this in any way. It is as if this issue was not part of the main story line at all. More about that in a moment. Clutch was the first Joe I ever owned in the 3 ¾ line. I didn’t own this comic until much later, and was given a copy by a friend who had ruined his after reading it several times. (I might re-take some of the pictures…

THE POP EXPOSE ‘G.I.Joe Winter Vehicles’ by Mitchell Smith!

GI Joe has had many great winter vehicles and figures since 1982, but there are 4 that stand out above the rest and have been a staple in the franchise. These are my top 4 in order of year. The Polar Battle Bear came out in 1983. This was a small vehicle that packed a lot of action in one vehicle. It would hold 3 figures and had a front cannon. The cartoon featured this vehicle many times so it was an easy sell in stores. The Snow Cat came out in 1985 and had…

January 21, 2018July 2, 2021 Serpentorslair StaffCobra Commander, G.I.Joe, G.I.Joe Comics, Hasbro, Larry Hama, Marvel, Snake Eyes0 comment

Background The Cobra courier Scar-Face was captured by the Joes in Issue 18. Prior to his capture, Dr. Venom dosed him with a time-release plague toxin. Seemingly, the goal is to kill the Joes within their own HQ. But Cobra and Destro are not patient enough to let the Joes die from disease. They are looking for the Joes to go into plague quarantine protocols. When they notice where this is, they plan to mount an offensive and wipe out the sick Joes. No mention of rescuing Scar-Face. Also in…

I wanted to share my passion of G.I.Joe with you all. My name is Justice Cury and I am crazy into 80s toys, and my top three kids are He-man, G.I. Joe, and MUSCLES, but I have adopted so many more. I started a YouTube channel in 2017 to share my love for these toys. Some of my videos are from my home but many are at fellow collectors houses so I can share their love/collection with others. In this below video some friends come over and we go through…

Background Many people are looking for Scar-Face, the Cobra courier. He slinked away after the Night Attack when he was betrayed by Dr. Venom, a homicidal maniac of a Cobra Scientist who left him to die in the Treasury building (or the Bureau of Engraving and Printing). The Joes are hunting for him as they think he may lead them to other Cobra members. Destro is looking for him because he believes he is integral to Cobra plans. Kwinn is looking for him because he thinks he can get a…

Background In the last issue, the Baroness crashed her HISS tank into a car to throw off Major Bludd’s aim as Cobra Commander ordered Bludd to send Destro into “early retirement.” Despite that her vehicle was armored, the crash left both vehicles destroyed, Bludd fled from her turret leaving her to be blown up as the gas hit the flames and engulfed her in an explosion. Meanwhile, Hawk beat Cobra Commander up, then Destro and Hawk traded a few blows before Cobra Commander shot Hawk in the back. His body…

2017 is coming to an end and with it the Joe world closes out with some pretty cool figures. Although I cannot bring myself to pay the high price of the exclusive figures, that doesn’t negate the fact of how cool they look on paper. So many great figures such as Ambush, Raptor, and Scoop. The Battle Force 2000 figures though were a set I wished I had the money to splurge on. Back in the day the whole set of Battle Force figures and vehicles was just a really…
