THE POP EXPOSE ‘Avengers: Infinity War’ by Mitchell Smith!

WOW! Let me start off by saying I thought this was one of the best movies I’ve ever seen. For me, this movie was the one that made me a Marvel fan. I watched a lot of the individual movies mostly in a broken fashion, but never cared that much about the stories, don’t get me wrong the classic Spider-Man story that has been told and rehashed numerous times over the years and characters like the Hulk who I grew up watching his show when Lou Ferrigno played him those are great…

THE POP EXPOSE ‘The NHL Playoffs’ by Mitchell Smith!

NHL Playoffs are in full swing and this year is proving to be a very exciting year for hockey fans. I love watching many different sports, and playoff/championship time is always fun to watch for me in any sport, but NHL Playoffs are one of my favorite sport with some of the toughest men on the planet. What other sport do you see someone take a slap shot to the face, go out, get stitched up on the sideline, and come back in to score a game winning goal. Hockey in the 90’s…

THE POP EXPOSE ‘Harry Anderson’ by Mitchell Smith!

Harry Anderson was born in October 1952 in New Port, RI and sadly died way to young this past week at the age of 65. Harry was on Saturday Night Live 8 times back in the eighties, was a featured character as Harry “The Hat” Gittes on Cheers, and was the lovable Judge Harry Stone on the TV series Night Court. He also performed in many other movies and TV shows and also learned magic and earned money in his teen years performing street shows. Harry was a big star from Night…

THE POP EXPOSE ‘SOLO’ by Mitchell Smith!

This past week action figures started hitting stores for the upcoming Star Wars spin off movie, Solo. I love the idea of the spin off movies, but the very first teaser trailer I saw for Solo it didn’t really excite me. Now that there have been a couple trailers and the action figures are starting to trickle in, I have changed my whole perspective on this spin off movie. It’s hard to picture Han Solo as anyone different then Harrison Ford or Lando as anyone other then Billy D Williams, but I’m now thinking of it as the reboot…

THE POP EXPOSE ‘G.I.Joe Sigma Six’ by Mitchell Smith!

In 2005 Sigma 6 was created and hit the GI Joe spot light for a couple years. The Cartoon was pretty good, it brought in a couple new characters while holding onto some of the original characters from GI Joe heyday 80’s. The toy line was pretty cool, but was a little bit of a sticker shock at the time when people were used to a figure for $2-$3 and these were around $15.00 at the time.  It was a little hard to justify the price at the time, but now a days that would be…

THE POP EXPOSE ‘Everything Sucks’ by Mitchell Smith!

Everything Sucks is a Netflix Original that starts out Freshman year 1996. Although I was in college in 1996 this brings me back in time with music and some issues that existed at the time. The series itself was pretty good, the acting is good, and story is pretty good. The main focus is on interracial couples and sexuality. The music was a big draw for me. I started comparing my life to the life of the characters, where I was and what I was doing when a certain song…

THE POP EXPOSE ‘Time Warp To 1986’ By Mitchell Smith!

Time warp to 1986 1986 was quite a year. It started out with the Challenger exploding, which I happened to see live that day as I was home sick from school, gave us the Super Bowl Shuffle by the Chicago Bears, as they won Super Bowl XX, and which I feel put the NFL in the spotlight of pop culture. Halley’s Comet passed by Earth and was visible to the naked eye.  The Rock N Roll Hall of Fame inducted its first 10 members, including Elvis, Chuck Berry, and Buddy Holly.…

THE POP EXPOSE ‘Who’s Still Dancing’ by Mitchell Smith!

The first few days of the big dance have been wild. In an extension of last weeks story, ‘Should the field be Extended?’, it is apparent that  it should be. Especially after a couple 13 seeds beat 4 seeds and the unthinkable, the number 1 seed, not only lost to the 16 seed, but got manhandled. Nevertheless the amount of talent that the US is churning out is amazing.  With all the upsets it also seems that individual talent doesn’t mean a lot these days, if you don’t show up…

THE POP EXPOSE ‘Should the NCAA Tourney Be Expanded’ by Mitchell Smith!

Has the NCAA outgrown the field of 68? March Madness is upon us. This is one of my favorite time of years. Brackets, heartaches and headaches. Championship week will be finishing up and for many teams the tournament of do or die has begun. Teams that have poured their hearts into a season only to come up one win short of an NCAA tourney bid. The blood and sweat of a season shattered by one final loss. Today’s college athletes seem to be plentiful. The smaller schools draw better players…

THE POP EXPOSE ‘6″ Marvel and DC Figures’ by Mitchell Smith!

The 6 inch figures seem to be dominating the Marvel and DC franchises lately. Most are retailing around $20.00, but if you hold off long enough you might be able to find some good grabs in the $5.00-$9.00 range. These figures are really cool and a lot of the figures have been in a build a figure pack, which has been a great pull if you can get all the pieces to build the extra figure.  I was able to find a couple nice figures on clearance such as Black Panther, Star Lord and Rocket…

THE POP EXPOSE ‘Peter Pan’ By Mitchell Smith!

Peter Pan is a fictional character who first appeared in J.M. Barrie’s book “The Little White Bird”, which was published in 1902. Pan only an infant at the time was in a small portion of the book, and was later extracted and expanded on. There have been many books, stage performances, television shows, and movies adapting Barrie’s original character. Walt Disney created the animated version of Peter Pan in 1953, and it became an instant classic. Steven Spielberg did Hook in 1991 with the late great Robin Williams playing Peter Pan, and most recently…

THE POP EXPOSE ‘The Winter Olympics’ By Mitchell Smith!

I love the Olympics especially the Winter Olympics. GI grew up just 10 miles south of Lake Placid home of the 1932 and 1980 Winter Olympics. I’m sure many of you know about the 1980 Men’s hockey team who upset Russia and brought home a very unlikely gold medal. Being so close to the Olympics was interesting to watch growing up.  This is a small town, and one of few if not the only Olympic Venue where you can see the Bob run, ski jumps, Ice arena, and Whiteface Mountain…

THE POP EXPOSE ‘Your Super Bowl Pick’ by Mitchell Smith!

Who are you rooting for in the Super Bowl? Most people who are not Patriots fans will be rooting for the Eagles today. I was a Patriots fan back in the 1990’s and even went to Giant stadium to watch them play and got Drew Bledsoe’s autograph. Once Brady took over I kind of lost interest and have not been a fan since then. The Super Bowl has held host to some great Quarterbacks. One thing that you can’t take away from Tom Brady is the success he has had at the highest level, he…

Voltron action figures have hit stores. The lions of Voltron have been in stores since last year do to the popular new series on Netflix. Just recently though the 5 main characters were released and look really cool. I was anticipating figures to be released after seeing 3 different sized lions released. 2 sets which the lions combined to form the pure awesomeness of Voltron. I did buy the 5 lions that were in between and did not connect to form Voltron, but what I was looking forward to was the action figures…
